Duties

Help

The incumbent is a recognized security expert within the Judiciary with a strong background in networking, data exchanges using Automated Programming Interfaces (API) and coding. The incumbent will perform various duties under the direction and guidance of the Security Automation Branch Chief in the Security Mission Integration Division.

The incumbent serves as the Automation and Content Development Team Lead, responsible for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the judiciary's security devices by leveraging automation and orchestration. The candidate should have a strong background in security use cases, programming and data exchanges and must have the capability to problem solve while developing new automated workflows.

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Transitioning manual security workflows into fully automated ones by leveraging existing APIs.
  2. Improving Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools integration, operations, and full automation of end-to-end testing.
  3. Developing new capabilities and APIs in response to customer requirements for improved data exchanges and analytic workflows.
  4. Developing and modeling new workflows to simplify threat detection and improve analytic capabilities.
  5. Visualizing data exchanges in the most effective way possible for a given project or question.
  6. Creating Key Performance Indicator (KPI) and other metrics that communicate the effectiveness of automation efforts to leadership.
  7. Working both individually and in a collaborative manner with a team.

Qualifications

Applicants must have demonstrated experience as listed below. This requirement is according to the AO Classification, Compensation, and Recruitment Systems which include interpretive guidance and reference to the OPM Operating Manual for Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions.

Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience, which is in or directly related to the line of work of this position. Specialized experience must demonstrate ALL areas defined below:

  1. Experience in software and application development, specifically Python and JavaScript.
  2. Experience with Splunk's Search Processing Language (SPL), React, and Splunk Dashboard Studio.
  3. Experience in Agile and DevSecOps framework, CI/CD repository and pipeline tools, and developing and leveraging APIs for security orchestration.

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP)
  • GIAC Python Coder
