A successful candidate in this position will serve as a General Engineer/Physical Scientist (Chief Systems Engineer) in NA-18 and is responsible for providing high level systems engineering and integration support for stockpile stewardship program activities that includes identifying and developing a disciplined systematic approach to the definition and implementation of systems engineering and program integration activities.
Summary
A successful candidate in this position will serve as a General Engineer/Physical Scientist (Chief Systems Engineer) in NA-18 and is responsible for providing high level systems engineering and integration support for stockpile stewardship program activities that includes identifying and developing a disciplined systematic approach to the definition and implementation of systems engineering and program integration activities.
As a General Engineer/Physical Scientist (Chief Systems Engineer) you will:
Serve as a principal intermediary addressing both internal and external inquiries, issues, concerns, and requirements for weapons related activities, including those raised by the NNSA Administrator or Congress, and provides expert advice, statistical information and testimony impacting sophisticated and sensitive systems studies and analyses.
Serve as a primary point of contact and technical interface for systems engineering and program integration activities between the Defense Programs organizations, and other NNSA organizations including NNSA Field Offices and contractors from Management and Operating (M&O) organizations and other internal and external customers.
Coordinate Systems Engineering and Integration activities associated with strategic planning related to program capability and technology modernization efforts.
Support planning, strategy and formulation processes and definition of acquisition programs to meet Defense Programs mission objectives.
Develop and maintain Project/Project Management and Systems Engineering policies, requirements, planning and assessments to ensure successful execution of the mission requirements by different elements.
Represents senior leadership and Defense Programs by providing senior level advisory services to other government agencies, professional and academic organizations, and industries on national and international matters and issues involving nuclear weapon systems engineering and works cooperatively to identify and implement and ensure the best practices.
Must be able to obtain/maintain a Q level Security Clearance.

Qualifications
In addition to meeting the Basic Requirements listed under the Education section, you must possess the following specialized experience.

Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience conducting at least 2 of the following activities:

The curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
OR
Combination of education and experience: college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. There are alternate methods to meeting the engineering educational requirement (e.g., holding current professional engineering registration, having passed the EIT examination, or having completed specified academic courses or a related degree). 1301- Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics OR Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
