*** This position is temporary and has a Not-to-Exceed date. However, this position may be extended to the fullest legally allowable period without further competition. The appointment may also end early due to lack of work or funds. ***

  • Uses basic functions of office automation word processing software and electronic mail to create, copy, edit,
    and print a variety of standardized documents.
  • Prepares a variety of standardized documents from rough draft and/or oral instructions.
  • Prepares and maintains office records of various types.
  • Processes incoming mail.
  • Receives and directs telephone calls or visitors.
  • Uses varied and advanced functions of word processing software to create, format, modify, edit, and print a variety of letters, reports, memos, and other textual documents.
  • Prepares a wide variety of recurring correspondence, internal reports, and other documents from information obtained from the staff, files, and other sources and reviews and finalizes documents prepared by others.
  • Establishes, updates, and maintains office records of various types that may be needed or will assist in the efficient operation of the office.

  • You must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university. Accepted for enrollment or enrolled in an approved program
  • Employee is subject to irregular tours of duty to include nights, weekend, and holidays
  • Enrollment must be at least half-time course load as defined by the education institution (typically six hours or equivalent for undergraduate and three hours or equivalent for graduate)
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Disclosure of Political Appointments
  • All federal employees are required to have direct deposit
  • Have and maintain a good academic standing (no less than 2.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 grading scale for bachelor's programs and 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 grading scale for master's program)
  • This position is established under the provisions of the Pathways Program. Pathway Intern Students are required to follow guidelines of the Pathway Intern Program
  • Selectee may be required to serve a probationary or trial period
  • May be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft in the performance of official duties
  • The actual work performed in this position has been reviewed and determined that it does not meet any of the exemption criteria defined in 5 CFR 551. This position has been designated as nonexempt
  • The position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
  • This position may require travel. Work may require travel away from the normal duty station on military and commercial aircraft
  • Selectee is expected to be granted with and/or maintain the appropriate security clearance required for the position

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the generalized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Student Trainee Positions. Failure to submit transcripts, proof of acceptance or current enrollment in an accredited college/university will result in an ineligible rating.

QUALIFICATIONS:
For GS-02 grade level: Competed a high school diploma or equivalent no later than June 2024 AND acceptance or current enrollment in an accredited college/university

For GS-03 grade level: Completion of 30 semester hours or more of post high school study leading towards a qualifying degree (i.e. associate's, bachelor's, master's, etc.)

For GS-04 grade level: Completion of 60 semester hours or more of post high school study leading towards a qualifying degree (i.e. associate's, bachelor's, master's, etc.)

NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

***For completed educational programs or equivalent during Spring/Summer 2024, proof of acceptance or current enrollment in an accredited college/university for Fall 2024 must be provided***

PLEASE NOTE: This is not a developmental opportunity; this position will be filled at the GS-02 through GS-04 depending on applicant qualifications and organizational requirements. The individual selected for this position may be considered for promotion to a higher grade without further competition upon meeting all legal and regulatory/program requirements.

You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. This internship is to provide a learning opportunity for a student enrolled in a field of study relating to their career path, to enhance their future goals and improve their knowledge with work experience in a working environment.

The entire period served under the Internship Program counts as the participant's trial period.
