As a Senior Digital Preservation Specialist, you will:

  • Advise the Director and Deputy Director of Digital Preservation in the ongoing development, implementation, and operation of the digital preservation program as well as on recommendations for the development and implementation of digital preservation strategies, technologies, and procedures.
  • Contribute to, develop, and review proposals for the development and implementation of changes in NARA's digital preservation strategies, technologies, strategy, policies, guidance, processes, and procedures.
  • Participate in the coordination of digital preservation responsibilities and development of original training content related to the management and ongoing preservation of electronic record holdings.
  • Analyze, develop, and propose appropriate strategies, risk criteria, and standards for the preservation of electronic record holdings.
  • Gathers, interprets, and analyzes highly complex data to discern patterns, trends, and relationships to draw conclusions about digital collections.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience for the GS-13 level is defined as one year of experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, that is directly related to the position, and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as experience:

  • Experience developing and implementing digital preservation strategies, technologies and procedures; AND
  • Experience performing detailed analysis of electronic record file formats and digital preservation technologies in order to prepare risk analyses, and make recommendations for technology improvement; AND
  • Performing electronic record holding audits, providing recommendations, and performing digital preservation actions; AND
  • Preparing training and instructional materials and teaching digital preservation topics; AND
  • Experience with the use of Linked Open Data technologies in the documentation and communication of policies/strategies/analyses; AND
  • Experience communicating with a variety of audiences inside and outside of organization on digital preservation fundamentals.
