As a SUPERVISORY ARCHIVES SPECIALIST, you will:

  • Supervise subordinate staff consisting of Archives Technicians, GS-4 through GS-7.
  • Analyze and recommend changes in section workflow and operating procedures and quality review programs.
  • Serve as liaison with Federal agency representatives to ensure agency customer needs are met.
  • Conduct straightforward and well-defined portions of records inventories, agency inspections, recordkeeping evaluations, and other surveys.
  • Plan and control the use of space for transferring and storing records.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.   • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.

  • Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel.
  • Designated and/or Random Drug Testing may be required.
  • Some of the work is performed in an office setting, but a significant portion is performed on loading docks or in records storage areas where physical exertion such a long periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, climbing 15' pulpit ladders, and lifting boxes of records weighing 30-50 lbs is required. The work requires common physical abilities.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience For the GS-09, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:

Leading a small component of a team, program, or project;
AND
Communicating with customers internally and externally to provide information and resolve issues;
AND
Applying and researching archival rules, regulations, policies, and practices to gather facts, and draw conclusions and/or make recommendations

OR
You may qualify with a Master's or equivalent degree, OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree that demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work OR a LL.B or J.D, in a field related to this position; (attach a copy of your transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit)

OR
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours may be combined with experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent.

Note: Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
