***This position is temporary and has a Not-to-Exceed date. However, this position may be extended to the fullest legally allowable period without further competition. The appointment may also end early due to lack of work or funds.***

  • Loads, unloads, moves, and stacks material such as heavy boxes and bulky items by hand, handtrucks, or dollies.
  • Operates hand tools and simple power equipment such as hand lawnmowers, walking-type power mowers, handsaws, hatchets, and clippers to perform tasks such as mowing lawns, clearing small trees and bushes, and removing snow.
  • Performs a variety of manual tasks such as moving, arranging, collecting, and cleaning equipment and materials.
  • Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Must be enrolled at least half-time at a qualiflying accredited institution
  • Must sign a Pathways Participant Agreement
  • Males 18 years or older must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal and Regulatory Guidance
  • You must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university. Accepted for enrollment or enrolled in an approved program
  • Employee is subject to irregular tours of duty to include nights, weekend, and holidays
  • Enrollment must be at least half-time course load as defined by the education institution (typically six hours or equivalent for undergraduate and three hours or equivalent for graduate)
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Male must be registered for Selective Service, see www.sss.gov
  • The position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program.
  • Disclosure of Political Appointments.
  • This position may require drug testing and the candidate may be subject to passing a drug test upon selection.
  • Selectee is expected to be granted with and/or maintain the appropriate security clearance required for the position.
  • Selectee may be required to serve a probationary or trial period.
  • Have and maintain a good academic standing with at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 grading scale for bachelor's programs and 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 grading scale for master's program.
  • This position may require travel. Work may require travel away from the normal duty station on military and commercial aircraft.
  • This position is established under the provisions of the Pathways Program. Pathway Intern Students are required to follow guidelines of the Pathway Intern Program.
  • Must be able and willing to submit to a pre-employment physical. The work requires some physical exertion, such as Long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven , or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, and etc.
  • The actual work performed in this position has been reviewed and determined that it does not meet any of the exemption criteria defined in 5 CFR 551. This position has been designated as nonexempt.
  • May work Works an uncommon tour of duty including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the generalized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Student Trainee Positions. Failure to submit transcripts, proof of acceptance or current enrollment in an accredited college/university will result in an ineligible rating.

QUALIFICATIONS:
For WG-02 grade level: Completion of high school diploma or equivalent no later than June 2024 AND acceptance or current enrollment on an accredited college/university

For WG-03 grade level: Completion of 30 semester hours or more of post high school study leading towards a qualifying degree (i.e. associate's, bachelor's, master's, etc.)

For WG-04 grade level: Completion of 60 semester hours or more of post high school study leading towards a qualifying degree (i.e. associate's, bachelor's, master's, etc.)

NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

***For completed educational programs or equivalent during Spring/Summer 2024, proof of acceptance or current enrollment in an accredited college/university for Fall 2024 must be provided**

PLEASE NOTE: This is not a developmental opportunity, this position will be filled at the WG-02 through WG-04 depending on applicant qualifications and organizational requirements. The individual selected for this position may be considered for promotion to a higher grade without further competition upon meeting all legal and regulatory/program requirements.

This internship is to provide a learning opportunity for a student enrolled in a field of study relating to their career path, to enhance their future goals and improve their knowledge with work experience in a working environment.

The entire period served under the Internship Program counts as the participant's trial period.
