Duties

Help
  • Manage and coordinate responses to requests for information and records under the Freedom of Information (FOIA) and Privacy Acts (PA).
  • Responsible for answering inquiries for documents in the possession of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.
  • Develop written products that articulate, interpret, and explain highly complex (scientific and medical), potentially controversial and important agency programs and research findings.
  • Analyze and interpret existing regulations, policies, and procedures to determine the discharge of information maintained by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.
  • Supervise a team of specialists within the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, Freedom of Information Service Center.

Qualifications

To qualify for this Supervisory Government Information Specialist GS-0306 position at the GS-14 level, you must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: managing government information programs, including the Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act program; interpreting and providing advice and guidance on regulations, policies, and procedures governing the review and release of documents on government programs; coordinating government information programs with other staff, officials, and organizations; and providing supervision and direction to staff of an organization.
