Duties

Help
  • Serves as the Deputy G3/5/7 (Senior Colonel, (O6)), who reports to the Corps Commanding General/Senior Commander (Lieutenant General, (O9).
  • Assigns work by outlining overall objectives and available resources.
  • Directs all phases of the Corps programs.
  • Discusses timeframes covering long range problems, scope of assignments and possible approaches.
  • Determines the appropriate laws, policies, regulations, principles, practices, methods and approaches to accomplish the work.
  • Reviews overall workloads and make recommendations and advisories in compliance with established regulations and guidelines.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • The incumbent may be required to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. You may also be required to be on-call. However, the incumbent is not routinely scheduled to be on call or to work on holidays or weekends.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 25% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year supervisory probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • Training may be required annually and as necessary to meet expeditionary requirements.
  • This position is emergency essential. In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as “Emergency-Essential”. Emergency-Essential designation takes precedence over any transportation agreement or military recall status.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience at the GS-14 grade level performing duties such as: 1) Coordinating, supervising, directing the planning, prioritization execution of programs such as operations, plans, Force Integration/Modernization, training, readiness, and Army and Global force management actions for Army units up to and including at least Division level; AND 2) Advising senior level General Officers on recommended priorities, allocation of resources, resolution of friction points, and organizational policy/regulations and/or reports; AND 3) Continuously evaluating programs to resolve problems, identifying weaknesses and ensure corrective actions are taken.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14).

Additional information
