Duties

Help
  • Responsible for the safeguarding government personnel, property, and technologies against such threats as: unlawful entry, sabotage, espionage, theft, accidental or willful damage, and destruction
  • Operating security forces equipment such as computers, radio and communications devices.
  • Coordinating activities of a guard force shift, to insure the maintenance of physical security standards
  • Conducting initial employee counseling outlining performance standards to include midpoint reviews.
  • Informing employees about management guidelines in writing and/or verbal form.
  • Reviewing daily reports from subordinate work leaders to insure the correction of reported irregularities
  • Performing duties such as: approve and/or disapprove leave requests, and modify duty schedules as dictated by.
  • Developing training plans based on approved training courses and/or regulatory requirements such as; the use of weapons, protection against espionage, sabotage.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG).
  • This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals.
  • Incumbent must meet and maintain requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) in accordance with AR 190-56
  • Must wear the Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform IAW AR 190-56, maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene.
  • Incumbent must successfully complete security guard training.
  • This position requires certification in operating various electronic equipment and sensors
  • Incumbent will be required to maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual physical agility test (PAT).
  • This position requires the incumbent to qualify semiannually with their assigned weapons.
  • Incumbent must undergo and pass annual medical exams of physical, emotional and mental stability. Standard for medical exams are prescribed in AR 190-56 "The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program" .
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience required :One year of experience managing security measure/counter measures controlling installation vehicle and personnel access preserving the installation physical security posture; implementing specific post orders providing operational procedures, aligning training of security officers reducing threats and vulnerabilities as defined in the installation designed threat based analysis; submits an annual cost spending plan identifying resources and manpower requirements .This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
