As a Transportation Specialist, you will perform some or similar duties listed below, which are not all inclusive:
Facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration between transportation agencies and industry partners. In this capacity the incumbent develops internal and external outreach materials, including presentations, Microsoft Office products, speeches and other items to support the program outreach of the Build America Bureau. Develops and maintain utilization of the credit and finance vehicles designed to improve the national transportation infrastructure.
Provides advice on assigned matters and initiatives related to transportation infrastructure across the Department specific regional areas and encourages modal administrations to adopt these strategies and initiatives. Identifies areas where initiatives in safety, mobility, and other areas can have infrastructure-related benefits for improving transportation systems' performance and efficiency in public and private organizations.
In assigned regional areas, analyzes and determines the application of appropriate domestic infrastructure regulations, policies, procedures, legislation, proposals, techniques and technology in the transportation sector. Provides direction and/or advice at key decision points and helps ensure that stakeholders are exposed to Departmental options on credit and finance of infrastructure projects.
Conduct policy research and analysis on transportation infrastructure issues, problems, and proposals on the economic impact of transportation investments. Track various transportation projects/programs and initiatives and monitor their impacts as it relates back to the overall transportation program/project goals and objectives.
The ideal candidate must possess transportation program or policy work related to a modal area of transportation. This experience should be applied in one of the major areas of transportation such as safety, infrastructure, environment, legislation, policy development or program execution.

To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet either the education or specialized experience requirements for the grade at which you are requesting consideration.
To qualify for the GS-11 on Experience, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-09 it must include:
Experience with transportation processes, programs and/or projects; OR related experience that aids in the understanding and application of transportation processes, programs, and projects.
To qualify for the GS-11 on Education alone, you must have: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. You can also qualify based on a combination of higher level graduate education and experience. This must be fully supported by your resume and transcripts, provided with your application.
To qualify for the GS-12 on Experience, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-11 it must include:
