Duties

Help
  • Provides direct services to the public: registers patrons, charges/discharges materials, processes overdue/ reserves, interlibrary loans/reserves, shelves library materials, prepares displays, programs activities, answers reference questions.
  • Provides technical services support in a variety of functions: basic/copy cataloging, ordering/receiving/processing and de-acquisitioning of library materials.
  • Assists in maintaining accountability records and in performing shelf inventories.
  • Performs simple maintenance on the library's automated systems.
  • Incumbent may perform physical exertion such as long periods of standing, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, pushing of loaded trucks; and recurring lifting of heavy items such as boxes of books or journals.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
1. One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade.
2. Two years of education above high school.
3. A combination of specialized experience and education that equates to 100% of the qualification requirements.

Highly Qualification Preferred Applicant:
1. Must possess more than one year of library work experience.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is NOT in the Government's interest.
Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a pay-banded position.
  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.

  • Incentives will not be paid.

The SGT Yano Library at Schofield Barracks, serves as a public library for the military communities of Schofield Barracks, Wheeler Army Airfield, HMR, and surrounding area. This position is a Library Technician position with the focus on customer service goals of the MWR libraries.

The hours of the SGT Yano Library are Monday - Thursday 1000 - 1700, Friday - Saturday 1000 - 1500 and closed on Sundays (subject to change). This position's schedule includes nights and weekends.
