Duties

Help

Brief Description of Major Duties: 

  • Responds to inquiries from the general public, service providers, government agencies, and court personnel about the Crime Victims Compensation program. 
  • Reviews and ensures claims applications are complete and submitted for processing in accordance with the governing statutes and laws.
  • Submits completed applications to claims examiner for determination of eligibility. 
  • Creates electronic files of applications received and verifies all necessary documentation included. 
  • Determines and coordinates eligibility of temporary housing placement for requesting claimants. 
  • Prepares and processes Notices of Determination for applicants and communicates with the Moderator regarding the outcome of the application. 
  • Assists applicants with filing applications. 
  • Reviews payment requested submitted by the Claims Examiner for approval. 
  • Compiles and prepares financial data for reporting. 
  • Assists the Crime Victims Compensation Program Director and Accounting officer with administrative tasks as needed.

  • A probationary period of one (1) year must be successfully completed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: A high school diploma or GED certificate plus five (5) years of experience providing administrative support in a general office, public service agency, social services, legal services, or court environment.  

Ability to work in a high-volume, fast paced environment.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Education Substitution:

  • Associate's degree plus three (3) years of experience providing administrative support in a general office, public service agency, social services, legal services, or court environment.  
  • Bachelor’s degree plus one (1) year of experience providing administrative support in a general office, public service agency, social services, legal services, or court environment.  

Please note that authorization for the release of your adult criminal record revealing any convictions and forfeitures, and any criminal cases currently pending before the courts is required.  If you are selected for the position, a criminal history records check will be conducted.
