The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Pathways Program provides developmental experiences in the Office of Management and Budget and its component offices, intended to promote possible careers in the civil service to individuals with qualifying educational eligibilities. Successful applicants are placed in a dynamic, developmental program with opportunities that may lead to a career in the Federal Government.
As a Student Trainee, GS-0399-7, your typical work assignments may include the following:
Performs basic budget, management, and policy duties as directed by higher graded staff.
Assists in the review and analysis of agency submissions, studies, research materials, and other information related to assigned areas.
Identifies problems, takes corrective action, reconciles records, and transmits to next action point.
Creates, copies, edits, stores, retrieves, and prints a variety of correspondence and documents using a computer.
Receives visitors and telephone calls and refers them to proper person or furnishes information requested.

This is a Drug Testing Designated Position (DTDP) and is covered by the Executive Office of the President Drug-Free Workplace Program. Pathways Internship Eligibility:
Applicant must have accepted enrollment or be enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) on a full- or half-time basis (as defined by the institution which they attend) in one of the accredited educational institutions:
public or private high school;
state-approved home school;
technical or vocational school;
2-year or 4-year college or university;
graduate or professional school; or
postsecondary home school curriculum.
Interns must be in good academic standing, as defined by the institution which they attend.
Interns must continue to meet all of the eligibility criteria throughout the duration of their Intern appointment.
Interns must provide a copy of up-to-date proof of enrollment at the end of each academic year, unless the supervisor or HR Specialist requests a copy more frequently.
Interns must be taking at least a half-time academic/vocational/or technical course load in a qualifying academic institution. The definition of half-time is the definition provided by the school in which the student is enrolled.

Minimum Qualifications: GS-07: You qualify for the GS-07 grade level if you meet one of the following:
Successfully completed 1 full academic year of graduate level education from an accredited college or university (1 year of graduate education is the number of credit hours determined by the college, university, or school to represent 1 year of full-time study); OR
Successfully completed a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university AND meet Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) based on ONE of the following: 1) Class standing -- Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, based on completed courses. -OR- 2) Grade-point average (G.P.A.) -- Applicants must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum. Additional information
This is an Excepted Service appointment. As a part of the Pathways Internship Program, the appointment may be extended until the selectee's educational program requirements have been completed. You may be converted, without a break in service to a term (time-limited) or permanent appointment upon graduation and completion of program requirements but there is no guarantee.
This is a year-round internship, and the intent of the position is that the student is able to work at least 640 hours while still in school in order to be eligible for non-competitive conversion.
EOP may non-competitively convert Interns from the Internship Program to a term or permanent (career or career-conditional) position in the competitive service, provided that there is an available position. The conversion is neither mandatory nor guaranteed.
To be eligible for conversion, an Intern must meet all of the following:
Be a U.S. citizen;
Meet the requirements as specified in the Pathways Participants Agreement and IDP, if applicable, and received a favorable recommendation for conversion from their supervisor;
Complete at least 640 hours hours of work experience (EOP may waive up to 320 hours of the 640-hour requirement for non-competitive conversion when an Intern has completed 320 hours of career-related experience AND has demonstrated high potential by outstanding academic achievement and exceptional job performance) while enrolled as a full-time or half-time degree or certificate-seeking student;
Meet OPM's qualification standards for the position to which they will be converted;
