Help
  • Serves as a CYS Services Supervisory Program Specialist with responsibility for supervising a minimum of 8 ratios of children 0 - 5 in a Child Development Center (Ages 0-5) or 6 ratios of children/youth in a School-Age Program or Youth Center IAW.
  • Works in-ratio 50% of the time providing breaks for assigned staff, modeling appropriate behavior, and providing program oversight and accountability during all hours of program operation.
  • Assists Director with requests for recruitments utilizing Army CYS Standard Position Descriptions. Supervises and evaluates employees based on established performance standards as required. Ensures timely submission of personnel actions.
  • Prepares work schedules to meet ratio and group size requirements. Monitors and analyzes adult/participant ratio sheets to ensure proper staffing. Ensures children/youth are appropriately supervised at all times.
  • Acts as Director in Director's absence up to 20% of the time. May work in additional CYS facilities for the purposes of providing management oversight for evening or weekend openings.

  • Travel to on and off post locations required.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
  • The Crime Control Act must be successfully completed and maintained.
  • Satisfactory performance, successful completion of training requirements and demonstrated on the job competency is required.
  • Must have current health assessment which documents good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations IAW current Army and DoD policy to include annual influenza vaccinations.

Qualifications

1. Successful completion of a 4-year college or university degree with a major course of study which directly relates to the appropriate CYS field consistent with:

  • For positions in Youth Facilities: The education must have been in youth development, youth administration, physical education, elementary education, secondary education, special education or other fields appropriate to the position to be filled such as related behavioral science.

2. In addition to the basic requirements stated above the following is required:

- Experience working as a Lead Child and Youth Program Assistant, Lead Child and Youth Program Technician, Child and Youth Site Leader or as a successful graduate of an Army CYS Services/Land Grant University Intern Program or similar program.

- Ability to select, train, and supervise direct in-ratio staff.

- Ability to develop and implement child and youth facility-based programs.

- The ability to plan and organize work, analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions.

- Must possess comprehensive oral and communications skills and analytical writing skills, and the ability to present ideas and proposals to a variety of audiences.

OR

1. A combination of education and experience - courses equivalent to a major in a subject matter field (24 semester hours) appropriate to the position (see above), plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the four-year course of study described above.

2. In addition to the basic requirements stated above the following is required:

- 12 months of directly related work experience as a Lead Child and Youth Program Assistant, Lead Child and Youth Program Technician, Child and Youth Site Leader or as a successful graduate of an Army CYS Services/Land Grant University Intern Program or similar program.

- Ability to develop and implement CYS facility-based programs.

- The ability to plan and organize work, analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions.

- Must possess comprehensive oral and communications skills and analytical writing skills, and the ability to present ideas and proposals to a variety of audiences.

Foreign Overseas Allowances and Differentials:
  • Overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.

Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a pay-banded position.
  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
Incentives and bonuses:-
