  • This position serves as the Associate Director for the Production, Coordination and Optimization Directorate (PCO), assisting the Director in strategic planning, execution of Special Projects, liaison duties with Office of the Undersecretary of Defense (Acquisition and Sustainment, OUSD(A&S)) and other external staff Directorates and organizations and the direction of the faculty/staff with an attendant portfolio of learning programs that provide a modernized global learning environment for acquisition professionals across the federal environment.
  • Supports the planning, development and implementation of acquisition education and training programs specified in Chapter 87 of Title 10, United States Code, Department of Defense (DoD) Directive 5000.57, DoD Directive 5000.66 and related DoD policy addressing DoD acquisition workforce learning and performance needs.
  • Assists the Director with strategic planning, Special Projects, Enterprise, and external collaborations to include liaison duties with OUSD(A&S) in support of delivering world class and modern learning assets in support of the needs of the Defense Acquisition Workforce.
  • Develops faculty as "thinking partners" and consultants, continuously improving product and service delivery to provide the right knowledge and skills at the point of need through a variety of learning methods.
  • Assists the Director with establishment of objectives to achieve efficient and effective use of available resources by coordinating the development of acquisition education and training programs and tailoring the content and delivery to support and improve acquisition outcomes for DoD acquisition programs.
  • Prepare, defend, realign, and forecast resources and scheduling requirements for the Directorate.
  • Builds relationships and partnerships with senior leaders from customer and stakeholders' organizations.
  • Provides expert advice and support to the Office of the President, Deans/Directors, and other key internal key constituencies on all matters concerning the DoD- wide acquisition workforce to identify and implement fundamental, far-reaching measures to effect substantial improvement in the performance of the acquisition systems and the acquisition workforce.
  • Remains current in their field of expertise and mentors Directorate faculty/staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Please reference the Education section of this announcement to review the DAU Faculty Pay Band E (AD-30) Minimum Education and Specialized Experience Requirements.To qualify for this position at the Pay Band E (AD-30) level, you must demonstrate in your resume/application that you possess the required years of specialized experience equivalent at a minimum, to the General Schedule (GS) GS-14 (or equivalent).The following is specialized experience that must be demonstrated in your resume:

  1. Demonstrated experience in managing and assessing the performance of major defense acquisition systems and projects, including research, development, production and support, including workforce management and development.
  2. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement an organizational vision that integrates enterprise and business unit missions, goals, priorities and values.
  3. Experience acquiring and administering human, financial, material and information resources in a manner that instills excellence, accomplishes mission and instills public trust. Knowledge and application of best business practices and tools.
  4. Demonstrated ability to apply a broad point of view and an understanding of individual or organizational responsibilities in relation to DoD or government-wide strategic and DAU enterprise priorities.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work with internal and external partners to support national security and mission objectives.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Education

DAU Pay Band E (AD-30) (Equivalent to Federal positions classified above GS-15 and equivalents) Minimum Education and Specialized Experience:

    • Basic requirements for Band E include a minimum of a Bachelor level degree in an appropriate discipline and a minimum of eight years of experience in the appropriate functional specialized experience areas. Advanced degrees are highly desired in Band E.

Advanced Acquisition Certification is required in any career fields such as Business Financial Management - Cost Estimating, Life Cycle Logistics, Program Management or Professional in Contracting, or Practitioner in Engineering & Technical Management or Test & Evaluation or the ability to become certified within 48 months.

Initial appointment is made for a period of three years, conditional upon satisfactory completion of a DAU probationary period of two years. At the one year mark, as part of an annual review, consideration is given to extending the appointment; thus at any one time moving beyond that point an employee will have two years remaining.

DAU requires reporting to the assigned duty location during each pay period. DAU supports part-time telework, but remote work and full-time telework are not offered.

DAU participates in e-Verify with the Department of Homeland Security and United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.
