This DCFA (Fee-funded) Intelligence Research Specialist (Staff Coordinator) position is located in the Intelligence Division, Office of Intelligence Programs (NI). Field Support Section (NIS) in Arlington, VA.

Among other duties, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

  • Serves as a Staff Coordinator and is responsible for providing technical guidance for collection, evaluation, production, and dissemination of drug intelligence.
  • Assists in the planning, directing, consulting, and controlling of Intelligence programs encompassing difficult and diverse functions or issues that affect aspects of major agency-wide programs.
  • Maintains familiarity with the contents of the various Agency manuals as well as revisions, and other correspondence relative to policy issues, instructions, etc.
  • Reviews policies and recommends appropriate changes. Formulates new policies, regulations, and procedures, such as, DEA regulations, legislative proposals, agency and office procedures and policies relevant to Intelligence programs and operations.
  • Establishes and maintains liaison and operational relationships with headquarters program managers, officials of foreign governments, state and local governments and/or various U.S. and foreign agencies on difficult and diverse matters or issues that affect critical aspects of major agency-wide intelligence programs.
  • May be required to testify during career as an Intelligence Research Specialist.

Qualifications

GS-14: Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 Federal grade level performing such duties as providing direction and leadership to a multi-agency staff engaged in the collection, analysis, evaluation, production, and dissemination of drug law enforcement intelligence in support of drug law enforcement activities; and performing preliminary research, analysis and evaluation of raw intelligence data for segments of large research projects and studies.
