Duties

Help
  • Serve as a Research Ethics and Compliance Officer for the Army Human Research Protections Office (AHRPO) within the Office of the Surgeon General (OTSG).
  • Coordinate appropriate Army regulations, policies, and procedures with Army institutions engaged in or supporting human subjects research.
  • Negotiate Human Research Protection Programs (HRPP) and Assurances of Compliance (Assurances) with institutions engaged in Army conducted or supported research involving human subjects and lead or assist with Site Assessment and Assistance Visits.
  • Develop and deliver educational programs and produce educational resource materials.
  • Support the development of templates, policy, and guidance documents to support the Army's Human Research Protections Program.

  • Requires 10% TDY.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • May be required to complete 1-year probationary period.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience, which includes ethical and regulatory oversight of human subject's research to ensure compliance with the Army Human Research Protection Program Management Plan regulations, policies, and procedures to support human subjects research; evaluate Human Research Protection Programs (HRPP) and Assurances of Compliance (Assurances); develope and deliver educational programs and producing educational resource materials.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
