Duties

Help
  • Develops, evaluates, and implements cybersecurity products, procedures and requirements to ensure compliance with DOD Information Assurance policies and to insure DOD systems meet applicable integrity requirements.
  • Serves as workgroup lead for both contractor and civilian employees in the agency. Provides expert level advice and assistance in the areas of cybersecurity architecture, systems auditing, cybersecurity tools, and all areas related to cybersecurity.
  • Develops Information Assurance Review (IAR) plans and procedures; serves as a workgroup lead for IARs performed on IT systems and networks to ensure they meet certification and accreditation requirements.
  • Evaluates the impact to the system(s) of features in terms of resource consumption and performance degradation, system reliability and system integrity.
  • Implements, maintains, and conducts on-site and remote analyses of information system standard cybersecurity products and associated systems to determine technical features and standard cybersecurity protection.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

Basic Requirements:
Attention to Detail - experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been responsible for reviewing the work of others to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards
Customer Service - developing and maintaining relationships with customers, anticipating and assessing the current and future information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products or services that are tailored to meet customer needs
Oral Communication - briefing senior-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of complex technical information to a non-technical audience
Problem Solving - identifying alternatives to address unique, highly complex, or sensitive information technology-related issues. I have anticipated information technology-related problems and have identified and evaluated potential sources of information to generate alternative solutions

Qualifying Experience:
To qualify at the GG-14, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: planning, organizing, developing and engineering cybersecurity solutions; and performing studies, analyses and evaluations of the information systems aspects of information assurance plans, programs, projects, networks, policies, and procedures.

  • If you are a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, you will be placed on an Excepted appointment.
  • This appointment does not confer eligibility to be non-competitively converted to an appointment in the competitive service.
  • A three year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service.
  • Telework availability will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination
  • Individuals tentatively selected for drug testing designated positions at the Defense Information Systems Agency will be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment or placement.

  • This is an Information Security (INFOSEC) position. In accordance with DoD 8570.1-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, selectee must meet Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, selected must meet Information Assurance Certification standards. Selectee must have an approved waiver prior to placement in this position or achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of IA duties. Level 1 certification is required prior to be authorizing unsupervised privileged access.
  • The Department of Defense (DoD) policy on employment of annuitants issued March 18, 2004 will be used in determining eligibility of annuitants.
