Duties

Help
  • You will perform data analysis to support planning, contracting, program management, financial, etc.
  • You will provide input to develop models for forecasting, ship allowancing, safety level, BP28 material, etc.
  • You will perform research and development work to evaluate the performance of the supply system, detect weaknesses, and propose remedial solutions.
  • You will assist with the development of decision support software, services, or products for other Departments and oversee all aspects of their implementation.

Qualifications

GS 11: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following: 1) Applying a systematic approach to identifying, examining and analyze problems; 2) Developing alternative solutions/courses of actions, analyze data, and presenting recommendations; 3) Applying knowledge of data analytics software and functionality to facilitate solutions to analysis and modeling of complex logistics problems; 4) Researching, developing, understanding, and interpreting mathematical models as a representation of the processes under study.

GS 12: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying knowledge of the detailed operations of the Navy Supply System ashore and afloat, including wholesale and retail inventory models, life cycle logistics, and their relationship to the planning, contracting, and budgeting functions. I have proficient researching skills such as modeling, optimization, data visualization, forecasting, data analysis, and/or allowancing as the studies they perform include the analysis of logistics-oriented problems, design of mathematical models, and testing and evaluation of proposed solutions. Specialized experience includes the following: 1) Applying a systematic approach to identifying, examining and analyze problems; 2) Developing alternative solutions/courses of actions, analyze data, and presenting recommendations; 3) Applying knowledge of data analytics software and functionality to facilitate solutions to analysis and modeling of complex logistics problems; 4) Researching, developing, understanding, and interpreting mathematical models as a representation of the processes under study.

Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in operations research.
  • Bachelor's or higher degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics and at least 3 of the 24 semester hours are in calculus.
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

AT THE GS-12 LEVEL:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

AT THE GS-11 LEVEL:

Master's or equivalent graduate degree
