Duties

Help
  • Conducts preliminary and general investigative research on entities and persons of interest within local, state, and federal government databases and commercial databases.
  • Researches, analyzes, interprets, and evaluates investigative and administrative data to support complex criminal investigations and enhance procedures.
  • Enters and uploads pertinent information and adjudicative actions into the Case Management System (CMS).
  • Ensures criminal history disposition documents and forms are accurate, complete, and promptly uploaded into the CMS, and forwarded to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
  • The incumbent supports investigative operations by handling critical responsibilities such as Grand Jury Coordinator, IG Subpoena, and Evidence and Emergency and Extraordinary (E and E) Funds Custodian.
  • Serves as the office property custodian; inventories accountable property and equipment; disposes of excess property; and conducts annual accountable property inspections.
  • Receives and screens incoming telephone calls and office visitors; handles incoming and outgoing mail and parcels; and performs all other administrative duties as assigned.

  • Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment, and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with DoD OIG.
  • The incumbent must adhere to the DoD Standards of Conduct.

Qualifications

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-07 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as: Experience in applying analytical, investigative, problem solving and case management concepts; performing a variety of office administrative management duties, and maintaining and organizing office records and investigative information; performing investigative program support and analytical functions in criminal and civil investigations; and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. The position requires knowledge of laws, regulations, policies and procedures associated with law enforcement operations and investigations.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience.Only experience and/or education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered.

Education

Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience:

GS-09 Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education, Master's or equivalent graduate degree, may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be used to substitute for the specialized experience requirement.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specialized in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
