Duties

Help

As a TRAINING TECHNICIAN (TITLE 32), GS-1702-6/7, you will assist the Training Officer and/or NCOIC within the directorate. Under the direction of the Training Officer and/or NCOIC this position assists in the accomplishment of work performed in the areas of operations and training.

Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:

  • Assist in establishing training plans and programs.
  • Work with unit training personnel who are seeking technical guidance and instructions on the implementation of established training plans and programs.
  • Review training plans and programs and make recommendations to improve the quality of training and to ensure compliance with directives from higher headquarters.
  • Assist with the Command Inspection Program and monitor unit performance levels.
  • Conduct regular evaluation of unit training programs to ensure unit readiness, assist with unit training inspections and staff visits and analyze reported information, monitor unit training for achievement of training objectives and goals.
  • Assist in coordinating the use of training areas, ranges, and other facilities with both internal and external organizations and monitor unit's use of training assets and unit's performance standards.
  • Research, compile, and maintain detailed information concerning general support training courses and facilities. Research and maintain training course information to support mandatory personnel training.
  • Research school locations, requirements, and required course progression sequence and recommend breakdown of quota allocations.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence:

  • The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
  • The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees.
  • The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible.
  • The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership.
  • The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens.

Military Grades: Enlisted Only. Minimum Rank of CPL/SPC. Maximum Rank of SFC.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience, education, or training that demonstrates the ability to follow directions, read, understand, and retain instructions, regulations, and procedures that otherwise demonstrates the ability to perform or learn to perform the duties of this position.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-07 Level- Must possess specialized experience which includes 12 months of experiences in conducting, supervising, or developing education and training programs; experience performing interviews and counseling techniques, training techniques and instruction methods, task analysis procedures, learning processes, curriculum development, training evaluations, and education and training systems and products, effective writing skills, editing practices; instructional media application, training reporting, program and curriculum validation, and implementation procedures; experience scheduling training events and facilities, supporting assistance visits and training meetings, assisting in work center and individual job qualification standard development, education institution registration requirements, and military personnel classification system and policies; experience presenting professional courses and briefings; and near proficient capabilities in writing reports and records. GS-06 Level- Must possess specialized experience which includes 12 months of experiences in conducting, supervising, or developing education and training programs; experience performing interviews and counseling techniques, training techniques and instruction methods, task analysis procedures, learning processes, curriculum development, training evaluations, and education and training systems and products, effective writing skills, editing practices; instructional media application, training reporting, program and curriculum validation, and implementation procedures; experience scheduling training events and facilities, supporting assistance visits and training meetings, assisting in work center and individual job qualification standard development, education institution registration requirements, and military personnel classification system and policies.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Army National Guard Enlisted Technicians:

High school or general equivalent degree is mandatory. An under-graduate degree from an accredited college/university is optimum. An academic degree with courses in education, grammar and composition, speech, psychology, guidance, and sociology or, social and behavioral sciences defines a best qualified candidate.

You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
