As a Supervisory Auditor (Performance)(Peer Review), you will:
- Assign work to subordinates based on the nature of the work to be performed, priorities, selective consideration of task difficulty, and the capabilities of employees.
- Apply management principles and practices to plan and coordinate the work of others and to ensure assigned staff skills match the needs of the assignment, also apply knowledge of supervisory techniques to evaluate the quality of work, and to identify and resolve problems.
- Develop overall work plans, strategies, and objectives, including priorities for the multiple audit related products conducted by the group.
- Provide leadership for particular projects by directing and coordinating audits projects, directly or to ensure that work objectives are accomplished in compliance with procedural, administrative, and audit standard requirements with a continual emphasis on the need for quality and timeliness in all areas.
- Ensure that the results of the individual assignments are consistent with auditing standards and objectives set by higher levels of management. Review in-progress audit projects to ensure adherence to work plans and conformance with professional, regulatory, and quality requirements. Often devise innovative solutions to problems. Make extensive use of IT auditing techniques and electronic files and databases to accomplish audit objectives. Take management action to directly, or through the Lead Auditor, instruct technical employees in the proper auditing methods and procedures and oversee the work. Ensure that the skill level of assigned employees matches the requirements of the audit.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Key Requirements:
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in auditing or a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting.
OR
Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or
Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours.
The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the OPM instructions.
