Help
  • Serves as a Supervisory Deputy Project Manager (DPM) and responsible management official providing overall direction and guidance for the development, acquisition, testing, product improvements, fielding, and sustainment of assigned programs.
  • Coordinate, integrate, lead, and directly control the efforts associated with assigned program.
  • Utilize a high degree of managerial and technical knowledge as well as a thorough knowledge of functional activities and the defense acquisition process required for effective management of assigned programs.
  • Oversees POM planning, cost estimating, program planning, programming, budgeting, program integration, interoperability, and oversight.
  • Serves as advisor to officials with broader and higher responsibilities on status of project, progress made, projected plans, and problems.
  • Responsible for all aspects of acquisition to include development, testing, system integration, production, fielding, sustainment, and product improvements with a multi-million-dollar annual budget.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectees must meet position requirements for certification at Advanced level in the Acquisition Career Field "Program Management" within 48 months of entrance on duty.
  • This position requires the selectee to sign a written tenure agreement to remain in the Federal service in this position for at least three (3) years.
  • This position has been designated as a Key Leadership Position.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter.
  • This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure, and annually thereafter.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 25% of the time.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • One-year probationary period may be required.
  • This is a Critical Acquisition position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as performing duties which include: 1) managing responsibility for cost, schedule, performance, and risk within a defense acquisition program; 2) directing the work of highly technical scientists, systems engineers, logisticians, and software/hardware integrators; and 3) performing the full range of administrative and technical supervisory duties of Government civilians to include assigning and supervising work, managing performance, hiring, and guiding professional development. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-03/GS-13).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent NH-03/GS-13.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

In addition to the specialized experience requirement, there is an education requirement for membership in the Acquisition Corps which includes:

Baccalaureate degree from an accredited educational institution -AND- one of the following:

1. At least 24 semester credit hours from among the following disciplines: accounting, business finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, and organization and management.

-OR-

2. At least 24 semester credit hours in the person's career field and 12 semester credit hours in the disciplines listed above. Credit hours within the person's career field may also satisfy the requirement for part or all of the 12 credit hours in the disciplines listed above. The same hours may be used to meet both requirements.

-OR-

3. At least 24 semester credit hours in the person's career field and training equivalent to 12 semester credit hours in the disciplines listed above. Training courses that carry an American Council of Education (ACE) credit recommendation may be used for training equivalency.

  • Highest category of certification in the applicable functional area, except for Program Management, which requires Practitioner or higher category certification.
  • Incumbent must execute 3-year tenure agreement, except as tailored by the CAE.
