Duties

Help
  • Provides technical support in recruitment and placement activities.
  • Ensures appropriate rules and regulations have been followed. Adjudicate Veteran’s preference determinations.
  • Performs a variety of support duties in the following HR program areas: on-boarding, off-boarding, awards, pay administration, and Personnel Records.
  • Perform miscellaneous clerical work in automated HR systems such as: determining if there are printed resumes of applicants at the close of announcements, annotating selection and non-selections by supervisors and managers.
  • Sends electronic follow-up correspondence to applicants, etc..
  • Prepare and/or process a full range of personnel actions for employment, change and separation actions covering permanent and temporary employment, i.e., promotion, details, adverse actions, retirement, pay adjustment, etc.
  • Request and assemble all required documents for specific actions prior to processing.
  • Compute and/or verify Service Computation Dates.
  • Communicates with employees and managers in the Bureau, both inside and outside the immediate office or related units, as well as applicants, retirees, and/or the general public.
  • Acquire, clarify, exchange facts or information needed to complete assignments, plan, and coordinate work efforts, and resolve issues/operating problems by influencing or persuading people who are working toward goals and have cooperative attitudes.

Qualifications

You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: Processing Personnel actions such as new hires, promotions, terminations, awards, adverse actions, reassignments, within grade increased, and other personnel actions in an automated personnel payroll system and determining legal authorities and nature of action codes, uploading and verifying the accuracy of documents in e-OPF. Make tentative job offers and coordinate entry on duty dates. Collect and verify the accuracy of In-processing paperwork such as credit history reports, background investigation documents, direct banking deposits, or state and Federal tax forms.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604.
