Duties

As a SUPERVISORY POLICE OFFICER, GS-0083-08, you will exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Advise and provide counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management. Select or recommend selection of candidates for vacancies, promotions, details, and reassignments in consideration of skills and qualifications, mission requirements, and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and diversity objectives. Develop, modifiy, and/or interpret performance standards. Explain performance expectations to employees and provides regular feedback on strengths and weaknesses. Hold employees responsible for satisfactory completion of work assignments. Appraises subordinate workers performance ensuring consistency and equity in rating techniques. Recommend awards when appropriate and approves within-grade increases. Hear and resolve employee complaints and refers serious unresolved complaints to higher level management. Initiate action to correct performance or conduct problems. Other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: This position works on a Panama 12 hour work schedule. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements.
Telework: ELIGIBLE FOR SITUATIONAL TELEWORK ONLY, INCLUDING EMERGENCY AND PRESCRIBED "UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK"

  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Must possess a valid Kansas State driver's license prior to appointment
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.

Military Grades: E2 through E6

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: A National Guard Title 32 Dual Status applicant must have a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade. For entry appointment to the GS-06 position, the applicant requires the completion of high school or general educational development equivalency; along with the successful completion of an equivalent military security or police training course. For the GS-08 initial appointment or promotion appointment, the applicant must have at least six months of working experiences and the successful completion of the Air Force Technical Training AFSC/Security Forces School

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-08 initial appointment or promotion appointment, must have at least six months of working experiences and the successful completion of the Air Force Technical Training AFSC/Security Forces School. Experiences in performing practical security force activities in direct support of the military weapon systems and physical security; law and order; and area security operations, also in law enforcement, maintaining law and order, preserving the peace, and protecting life and civil rights within the jurisdiction of military installations. Knowledgeable in developing plans, policies, procedures, and detailed instructions to implement security force programs. Experienced in the control and safeguarding of arms, ammunition, and equipment; and, instructs ground weapons qualification training. Have experiences in firing weapons for accuracy and serviceability. Understands how to control and operate firing ranges and associated facilities to include supervising construction and rehabilitation.
