The IT Specialist (INFOSEC) , located in the Office of Management and Administration is responsible for administering, developing, delivering, and supporting information technology systems and services that require knowledge of information technology and security engineering principles, concepts, and methods.
As a IT Specialist (INFOSEC), you will:
Plan, coordinate, manage, and execute the protection, maintenance, trouble shooting, and continual improvement of the assigned, mission critical VAOIG systems, ensuring threats, lacks in protection, deficiencies in operating capacities, environment and network instability, and more are identified and remedied under time sensitive circumstances.
Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of IT systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools.
Promote awareness of security issues among agency-wide staff through a variety of methods, including routine IT-related correspondence, just-in-time training sessions with staff, and briefings during large staff meetings and orientation sessions
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
To be qualified for this position at the GS-14 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as work that involves:
- Planning, coordinating, and implementing robust processes to ensure that threats and deficits in IT protection, operating capacities, and network stability are identified and remedied; AND
- Planning, coordinating, and implementing overarching IT security projects and initiatives; AND
- Conducting risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed IT systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs.
In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.
