Duties

Help
  • Provide process development, preparation oversight, review, and direction for NEPA-related processes and documents.
  • Provide guidance to staff and management on a variety of NEPA technical, policy, and process matters.
  • Interpret and analyze impacts of NEPA-related efforts, initiatives, and programs other entities are undertaking with a view to identifying challenges and opportunities for Operations Division.
  • Provides technical expertise to Operations Division on stewardship planning and technical assistance in the conservation, preservation, and management of USACE lands and waters.
  • Coordinates with project staff and business line managers on work for fish and wildlife resources, resource study planning and habitat management planning at each multipurpose project.
  • Provide quality assurance for project Master Plan updates and supplements.
  • Serve as an Operations Division Representative on the Northwest Division (NWD) Fisheries committee during monthly calls.

Basic Requirement for Natural Resources Specialist (0401):

A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

OR

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Minimum Qualifications for the GS-12 grade level:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience assisting with developing processes, preparing and reviewing assessments, and providing direction for National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) related procedures and documents.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Education
