Duties

Help
  • Conduct maintenance of recreation and administrative sites including cleaning and maintenance of facilities, routine site landscaping work, apply herbicide to clear weeds, restoring native vegetation.
  • Perform corrective maintenance for buildings and facilities (such as replacement and/or repair of buildings, water and sewer/septic systems, and other facilities and infrastructure.
  • Assist with construction and installation of facilities at recreation sites; such as campgrounds, trailheads, parking areas, group shelters and toilet structures.
  • Operate and assist in maintaining various types of equipment including heavy duty 4X4 pickups; forklift; skid-steer loader with bucket, auger, and mixer attachments; and a hydraulic lift dump trailer.
  • Assist with construction and installation of information kiosks and information boards; and concrete walkways, tent pads, pipe safes, fire grills, picnic tables, and signs.

Physical Demands: The work requires walking stooping, bending, lying flat and repeated lifting. The incumbent must have good vision, reaction reflexes and depth perception. Physical demands require coordination for hand, eye and body. The incumbent must exert physical effort related to actions such as lifting and carrying heavy loads (10-100 pounds), pushing, pulling, carrying objects of various weights, sizes and shapes, walking, climbing, crawling and bending.

Work Environment: Work is performed in all kinds of environments from an office setting to project sites in rough and steep terrain. Field work involves vehicular and foot access and may involve accessing remote areas. Temperatures many range from below zero to over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Weather may include periods of rain, snow and heavy winds. Wearing of the authorized BLM uniform is optional during field work
