Duties

Help
  • The Deputy Chief Data Officer serves as expert advisor to the Chief Data Officer in the development, oversight, and management of DOC data strategy and related action plans.
  • The Deputy Chief Data Officer will share with the CDO the responsibility for providing leadership in carrying out Department-wide responsibilities in data governance, data strategy, and management of the data lifecycle.
  • Provides strategic direction for and technical assistance on a wide range of data science-related functions.
  • Provides supervision, guidance, and support to staff. Establishes effective alliance and partnership with high-level program managers and executives across the department to direct and manage data-related projects. Assists CDO with budget management.
  • Manages strategic data projects to meet Departmental business needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Education Requirement:

A. Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.

or

B. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.

AND

Specialized Experience: For the Band V (GS-15), you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the Band IV (GS-13/14) in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes managing data strategy and plans; overseeing data governance activities; and coordinating with stakeholders and staff to accomplish goals.

Education: Education cannot be substituted at this band/grade level.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
