Duties

Help
  • Serves as a technical specialist in CADD/BIM, ProjectWise, and emerging CAE technologies.
  • Provides technical support to engineers on work associated with CADD/BIM/PW/CAE in the production of reports, plans and specifications, and drawings.
  • Performs work within the CADD/BIM/PW/CAE environments and configures these systems for integration with other environments such as GIS.
  • Configures and oversees complex databases of engineering products and establishes procedures for storing and maintaining project files.
  • Reviews and analyzes drawings for adherence to the Corps mandated standards for CADD/BIM/PW/CAE.
  • Maintains technical expertise in various software products used in the CAD and BIM environment.

This position has an Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR):

This series covers technical positions supervising, leading, or performing work involving applying a practical knowledge of the:

  • methods and techniques of engineering or architecture; and
  • construction, application, properties, operations, and limitations of engineering systems, processes, structures, machinery, devices, and materials.
Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 or equivalent and above):Examples of qualifying specialized experience include technical work in: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems. Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as:
  • Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes.
  • Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

For GS-11: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 level in the Federal service which includes performing work within the CADD/BIM/ProjectWise/Computer Aided Engineering environments and configuring these systems. Provided technical support to engineers on work associated with CADD/BIM/PW/CAE in the production of reports, plans and specifications, and drawings. Configured and oversaw databases for electronic storage of engineering products and established procedures for storing and maintaining project files. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
