Duties

Help
  • Reviews incoming permit applications and correspondence received for activities to be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Regulatory Program.
  • Determines those activities which qualify for nationwide permits, regional general permits, individual permits, or requires no permit.
  • Responsible for assigning ORM2 ID numbers and entering application and permitting information into ORM2 (Operations and Maintenance Business Information Link-Regulatory Module).
  • Manages complete and accurate computerized database for all District permit actions using ORM2 and GIS (Geographic Information Systems).
  • Prepares monthly and annual reports from ORM2 and status reports on a weekly basis.
  • Provides general clerical support to the Branch including routing mail, typing, and assembling correspondence and permit documents, photocopying, filing, and collecting and assembling data or reports, etc.

Specialized Experience GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes:Determining whether the activity requires authorization pursuant to Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 and/or Section 404 of the Clean Water Act; Reviewing maps, drawings, and plans of proposed work for completeness to assure all data regarding specifications and location of work are adequate for further evaluation; Contacting applicants, Federal and state agencies, private industry, general public to provide information regarding the regulatory program, application procedures, and status of pending applications and to solicit additional information on permit cases; examining information on forms or applications for licenses and/or permits; comparing information with pertinent records, files, and legal requirements to identify and resolve issues and verifying eligibility for permits by reviewing information.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

Specialized Experience GS-06: One year of specialized experience which includes: examining information on forms or applications for licenses and/or permits; comparing information with pertinent records, files, and legal requirements to identify and resolve issues and verifying eligibility for permits by reviewing information. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

Specialized Experience GS-05: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes: examining information on forms or applications for licenses and/or permits; resolving issues with information for pertinent records, files, and legal documents; reviewing applications for eligibility of permits or licenses.
