The Associate Chief Counsel, Procedure and Administration (P&A) located in Washington, DC, comprises approximately 100 attorneys and 80 support personnel. The office's responsibilities include legal issues arising out of the assessment and collection of Federal taxes, bankruptcy, ethics, abatement, credits, refund of Federal taxes, disclosure of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act matters, and judicial proceedings which include technical electronic discovery (eDiscovery) litigation support.
As a Legal Administrative Specialist, you will:
Mange the National Office case assignment process which includes initiating, developing, implementing, evaluating, and enhancing the processes for making National Office case assignments (e.g., technical advice memorandums, pre-submission technical advice memorandums, Tax Court Motions, Large Case Petition Reviews, Notice Case Work Plans, Appeals Settlement Guidelines, and Coordinated Issue Plans).
Analyze assignment requests to identify the Associate office responsible for the subject matter in question. Perform analysis and fact-finding investigations to obtain additional information needed to assign cases to the appropriate Associate office.
Conduct studies concerning the processes and internal controls for making assignments as part of an ongoing management improvement program.
Serve as the automation liaison regarding use of legal systems (i.e., Tax Litigation Counsel Automated Tracking System (TLCATS), Technical Management Information System (TECHMIS), Case Management Information System (CASE-MIS)) to ensure timely and accurate input and to assist in the development and evolution of these systems or any future systems.
Performs ongoing validation of data with regard to the automated information and management systems.

To qualify for this position of Legal Administrative Specialist, you must meet the qualification requirements listed below by the closing of this announcement:
For GS-9: Specialized Experience: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience gathering and organizing data from various sources; experience responding to routine problems and inquiries; experience prioritizing assignments and multi-tasking; experience utilizing automated systems to accomplish assigned tasks. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-7).

Education Substitution: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration or Legal Studies, OR an LL.B. or J.D.
