Duties

Help

As a Budget Analyst you will be part of the OIG, Management and Operations Division (MOD), Budget Office. You will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Performs analytical, technical, and administrative duties in the Federal Governments budgetary process including budget formulation and justification, execution, and reconciliation of the OIG accounts.
  • Reviews requisition packages, prepares obligating documents and obligate funds (commitments, PO, IAA, Requisitions, etc.) in the accounting system (ORACLE) timely and accurately.
  • Coordinates with OIG Divisions and other Government Agencies to establish/renew various Interagency Agreements throughout the year in accordance with established policy.
  • Coordinates with the Denver Finance Center (DFC) to setup new CONCUR accounts and resolve issues related to travel documents for OIG employees.
  • Coordinates with DFC and IG offices to reconcile monthly charges for Government GSA vehicles. Reviews open obligations, verifies payments with vendors/contracting officer's representatives, and completes the quarterly "Open Obligation" report for submission to the Agency. Performs quarterly reconciliation of each Divisions' travel and training allotments with actual expenditures.
  • Assists in the preparation of apportionment documents for transmission to OMB.

Specialized Experience Statements:

GS-13: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector: interpreting budgetary policies and practices; formulating budget and cost estimates to support plans and programs; providing technical guidance to management on the preparation of financial reports, processing flow, system interfaces and recommends improvement; and assisting with drafting budget program policies and procedures in compliance with laws and regulations.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

TIME-IN-GRADE: If you are a current career or career-conditional federal employee applying for promotion under Merit Promotion you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks in positions at the next level lower than the position being filled.
