Please note that the duties and responsibilities associated with this position may vary based upon the agency's needs at the time of hire. The following description of major duties and responsibilities is only intended to give applicants a general overview of the expectations.

This is a trainee level position for auditing and audit-related services. Work assignments are selected to provide training in the analytical evaluative aspects of the work and in the appropriate use of such methods and techniques as qualitative and quantitative analysis. The training emphasizes developing an understanding of the relationships of the concepts underlying the specialty area. It is directed toward the recognition of recipient needs or problems and the identification, analysis, and solution of problems. Assignments are pre-selected to combine performance of productive work with supervised on-the-job training in both the judgmental and methodological aspects of the work. While participating as a member of an audit team, trainees progressively contribute more value to assigned projects as knowledge, skills, and abilities develop.

The GS-09 equivalent level is distinguished from the GS-07 equivalent level by the ability to work independently to complete assignments of average difficulty. The employee participates in more complex studies and projects designed to develop broader expertise.

Trainee will be expected to:
  • Work independently and as a member of team to accomplish work goals.
  • Accurately maintain records of information, using tools such as the agency Audit Document Management System.
  • Perform and/or support audits or audit-related reviews, and research and respond to audit environment issues.
  • Effectively communicate and manage changing priorities to adhere to deadlines.
