Fort Drum is approximately 30 miles from Canada, with the Great Lakes to the west, the Adirondack Mountains to the east, and the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands in between.
Operate a variety of engineer equipment such as pay loaders, tractors, graders, and rollers to perform excavation, back filling, grading, leveling, tamping, and piling to maintain roads, grounds, draining items, signage, fencing and other tasks.
Responsible for determining appropriate equipment and attachments to utilize in order to complete work that has been assigned to you.
Operate bulldozers and loaders to perform such tasks as clearing grounds, piling sand, stone, or other aggregates, and filling and leveling operations.
Work in all types of weather conditions, operating snow removal equipment, such as a snow blower, grader with wing unit, and loaders to accomplish snow removal operations in parking lots, on post roads, and housing areas.
Make minor adjustments to equipment and hardware and makes repairs to motor vehicles assigned, such as, repair and replacing tires, repairs mirrors, and windshield wipers.
Operates mowing equipment, and tractors with attachments to mow grass.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Incumbent of this position must submit to a pre-employment drug screening and random testing thereafter.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
This position has been designated "Weather Essential".
The incumbent is required to work shift work that is not rotating in nature.
This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a valid Forklift Operators License.
This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a valid Government Driver's License.
