Duties

Help
  • You will perform water treatment tasks such as pumping, treating, sorting, and distributing raw and finished potable water through the water systems.
  • You will repair and maintain water distribution systems including elevated and ground level water storage tanks, pumps, underground lines and associated buildings.
  • You will maintain and repair vacuum pumps, Hydraulic press, and Chlorine Gas Injectors.
  • You will operate potable and non-potable pumping stations and wells with use of remote control device.
  • You will monitor flow meters and charts to maintain efficiency and control formation of pollutants in water or distribution systems.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to posess and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain an appropriate Virginia State Water Treatment Plant Operator Class I or II certification issued by the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

This position requires rotating shift work.
