As Chief, Environmental Health section, plans, directs, reviews and coordinates the work for subordinate engineers, scientists, and technicians.
As the District's technical expert in the broad range of industrial hygiene issues ensures parameters are identified for hazardous, toxic, and radiological wastes.
Provides guidance and oversees the preparation of Health and Safety Guidelines and requirements for field sampling and investigations at Buffalo District River and Harbor projects, civil works project sites, and HTRW sites.
Conducts short-term and long-term human health risk assessments for HTRW projects and District construction and operation and maintenance projects.
Develops and implements consistent Quality Assurance Procedures associated with HTRW activities, including Chemistry, Toxicology, Industrial Hygiene, and Health Physics functions.
Reviews completed work and recommendations of assigned staff and A/E contractors for technical accuracy, adherence to Federal, State, and local environmental standards and guidelines and agency policy and provide instructions on required changes.
Serves as the Chief of the Environmental Health section who plans, supervises, and coordinates the work of a subordinate staff in all matters relating to required environmental documentation.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Required to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
One year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
