Duties

Help

As a IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC)-TITLE 32, GS-2210-9/11, you will conduct audits of information systems compliance related to security standards, guides, and application updates to ensure accreditation of all systems IAW with all security directives, policies, and procedures. Ensure that all elements are in compliance with guidance concerning accreditation of automated information systems, risk management, control of computer viruses, and other similar issues. Review Army Training and Certification Tracking System, approve new user accounts, and conduct ongoing audits to ensure all privileged and user accounts comply with Army Standards. Conduct investigation of security incidents, report findings to leadership and remediate findings. Review submissions proposing changes to network or information systems and makes recommendations to senior cybersecurity team lead. Maintain an operational knowledge base of threats to the security posture by attending courses, conferences, seminars, online research, and information sharing between other Cybersecurity/Information Assurance professionals. Anticipate the effects of new technology and develop policies to control it to prevent security violations. Make recommendations regarding policies and/or procedures to prevent or react to security concerns. Perform other duties as assigned.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
You must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard.
You must be assigned to a compatible military position.
Wear of the military uniform.

Must obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation.

This position is located on a tobacco free facility.
This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
This position conducts information assurance functions. The incumbent shall comply with the requirements of the certification program and will be required to obtain and maintain certification. Certification requirements are outlined in DOD instruction 8570.01-M.
Must obtain and maintain Security+ Certification within six (6) months of appointment.


This position is developmental: Incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to the next higher grade upon completion of an Individual Development Plan (IDP), meeting time in grade requirements, and recommendation for promotion by supervisor.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT:
Experience that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.

FOR THE GS-09:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must have at least 24 months experience in analysis of the interrelationship of pertinent components of the system. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment. Experience scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed by computers where alternatives had to be weighed with a view to production efficiency.

FOR THE GS-11:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must have at least 36 months experience assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience with analysis and design techniques to develop system software modifications, systems administration policy, and procedures for use across the organization. Experience using software technology and related computer equipment to perform studies and to evaluate system changes.
Must have Security+ Certification in order to be qualified at the GS-11 level.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Education

Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: To qualify for GS-2210 Title 32 Excepted Service positions, on the basis of completed graduate education listed below.

FOR THE GS-09:
Masters or equivalent graduate degree
-OR-
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

FOR THE GS-11:
Ph.D. or equivalent
-OR-
3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

All undergraduate or graduate education must be in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

To receive credit for education, you must provide OFFICIAL transcripts.
