THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This position is located in an Air National Guard (ANG) Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF). The purpose of this position is to serve as Information System Security Officer (ISSO), ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of classified information systems, networks and data through the enhancement of Department of Defense (DoD) information systems security programs, policies, procedures and tools. Enhancement of information systems security programs, procedures, and tools are specifically accomplished by conducting vulnerability assessments and ensuring all protection needs are met

1. Serves as a technical expert and focal point for Information Technology (IT) security and information assurance policies, planning, programs, initiatives, certification and accreditation

2. Evaluates and assesses vulnerabilities of classified network and application server hardware, operating system software, and peripheral network equipment such as routers, bridges, switches, attached cabling system, network interface cards, modems, multiplexers, and concentrators.

3. Reviews national, DOD and other policies, program proposals, operational and strategic plans, and identifies issues requiring tier two actions or inputs.

4. Analyzes equipment and software reliability and suitability for vulnerability assessment utilization.

5. Determines, develops, and ensures cooperation and coordination with related IA/CND program efforts.

6. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Position is designated as OM-ADM-001 within the Defense Cybersecurity Workforce as guided by NIST SP 800-181; National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education, Cybersecurity Workforce Framework.
  • Selectee must meet position requirements for certification at Level II in Information Assurance Technician (IAT-II) within 6 months or less of appointment to this position.
  • Top Secret clearance/SCI is required

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Minimum time required: 36 Months for current Federal Technicians and 48 Months for the all others.


Experience that demonstrated accomplishment of computer project assignments that required a wide range of knowledge of computer requirements and techniques pertinent to the position to be filled. This knowledge is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant analyzed a number of alternative approaches in the process of advising management concerning major aspects of ADP system design, such as what system interrelationships must be considered, or what operating mode, system software, and/or equipment configuration is most appropriate for a given project.

- Knowledge of and skill in applying IT security principles, methods, and tools; and the IT security environment sufficient to participate in defining IT security requirements; and to implement and support IT security applications.

-Knowledge of and skill in applying methods for evaluating, implementing, and disseminating IT security tool and procedures; SCIF Infrastructure; COTS technology; IT security certification and accreditation requirements; network operations and protocols; and computer forensics principles.
