Duties

Help
  • Monitor the implementation and evaluation of the Ready and Resilient Councils across United States Army Reserve (USAR) to integrate and synchronize USAR Prevention Programs' efforts to improve readiness and resilience.
  • Provide analysis of integrated primary prevention activities in the functional areas to better inform staff principal's identification of key policy and planning issues that impact the program effectiveness.
  • Conduct complex public health practice studies incorporating the Socio-ecological Model.
  • Provide guidance to personnel regarding the development and implementation of strategies designed to promote integrated primary prevention activities that enhance Soldier and community well-being.
  • Develop plans to facilitate the USARs integrated primary prevention initiative through the Ready and Resilient (community coalition) risk reduction process.
  • Synthesize data and research and translates the findings into policy and related guidance.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of Ready and Resilient processes, strategies, and programs.
  • Oversight of the Master Resilience Training program.
  • Develop strategic messaging and partners with entities to widely disseminate information, training strategies, and evaluation results.
  • Establish training courses in order to ensure a broader understanding of integrated primary prevention methods, techniques, and activities

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent is required to complete DoD SPARX Knowledge or equivalent training, and 30 hours continuing education annually and Master Resilience Training (obtain and maintain at a minimum Level 1).

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement:

A. Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as behavioral or social science; or related disciplines (public health, social work, sociology, psychology, anthropology and social service).

or

B. Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

or

C. Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes managing a comprehensive, strategic coalition and actional body formalizing health promotion efforts and actions using a public health process to integrate and synchronize multiple prevention efforts and programs; planning, implementing, and evaluating a broad range of ready and resilient capabilities, processes, goals, objectives, and strategies for senior leader organizational health and wellbeing councils/forums/committees addressing risk and protective factors decreasing such harmful behaviors as sexual harassment/assault, substance abuse/misuse, suicide, domestic and/or intimate partner violence, and child abuse/neglect; writing policy guidance and reporting procedures for use by prevention professionals and organizational members with a focus on integration of prevention programs and efforts; developing and facilitating primary prevention initiatives at the organizational level; analyze prevention programs to identify key policy and planning issues that impact the effectiveness and/or efficiency of the programs processes in prevention and establishing and tracking milestones and critical events for the prevention initiatives. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Education
