Summary

This position is located in the Auto Hobby Shop of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department. The primary purpose of this position is to provide information and to assist patrons utilizing the vehicle storage facilities and the Auto Hobby Shop.

Duties

Help

  • Provides information and assistance to patrons of the vehicle storage facilities.
  • Reviews applications for vehicle storage and determines eligibility for free storage based on established guidelines.
  • Answers questions and attempts to solve problems. Refers unusual situations to supervisor.
  • Maintains records and a computerized data base on vehicle storage information. Posts payments received from patrons according to established procedures. Informs supervisor of delinquent payments.
  • Maintains up-to-date information on ships arrivals and departures. Ensures vehicle storage facilities have ample space available.
  • Inspects vehicle storage facilities to ensure vehicles are covered and have not been tampered with that the Auto Hobby Shop Complex to area is free of hazardous materials and is safe for patron use.
  • Ensures vehicles and/or equipment assigned to the vehicle storage facilities are in proper working order.
  • Responsible for ensuring hazardous materials are properly labeled and stored. Informs supervisor when materials are ready for disposal. Maintains all material safety data sheets (MSDS) for hazardous materials.
  • May assist in receiving and stocking of resale items.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Conditions of employment

  • Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background Investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.

Qualifications

  • Six months experience in an auto hobby shop environment.
  • Knowledge of a vehicle storage operation.
  • Knowledge of a computer data base.
  • Knowledge of receiving and stocking of merchandise.
  • Ability to maintain up-to-date information.
  • Ability to maintain records and reports.
  • Knowledge and ability to identify hazardous material.
  • Ability to carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Must possess a valid drivers' license.

Education

This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
