Duties

Help
  • Operates motor vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 10,000 pounds up to 26,000 pounds to include passenger shuttle vans (10-20 passenger capacity), cargo vans and 30- to 40- passenger buses.
  • Vehicles are driven for long and short distances to transport and pick up articles, supplies, materials, and passengers.
  • Vehicles are sometimes driven through congested areas where drivers must exercise caution when backing to load or unload at docks, ramps, or similar locations.
  • Assures that cargo is properly located, distributed, and secured, and that vehicle is not loaded beyond capacity.
  • Operates special equipment such as manual winches and tie-downs.
  • Responsible for operator maintenance, inspection, and recordkeeping. Major maintenance problems are brought to the supervisor's attention.
  • Responsible for other transportation and cargo services related duties.

Forest Service daycare facilities are not available.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

You will be evaluated in accordance with the category rating procedure as defined in the USDA Demonstration Project Plan. Applicants who meet the basic minimum qualification requirements established for the position will be placed in the Eligible category. You will be further evaluated against criteria for placement in the Quality category. This evaluation is based on the level of your experience, education, and/or training as determined by your responses to the Assessment Questionnaire. Individuals with veterans' preference are listed ahead of applicants who do not have veterans' preference within each category.
