About the position: This position is located at Flyers Snack/Coffee Bar, 35th Force Support Squadron, Misawa AB Japan.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide a food truck service for base residents and events.

This is a Regular part time employment category position; guaranteed 20 hours per week, but may work up to 40 hours a week depending on the needs of the facility.

Duties

Help

Preparation of food items for food truck. Performs a full range of simple cooking tasks by preparing and cooking items on the food truck that require little or no processing such as pancakes, sausage, eggs, hamburgers and fresh or canned vegetables. Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils. Cleans, cuts, chops and dices vegetables, salad or other food items. Performs cooking and food preparation utilizing a variety of commercial and industrial kitchen equipment, to include, but not limited to, flat top grills and griddles, food steamers and warmers, deep fryers, walk-in refrigerators and freezers, and other related equipment. Sets up glasses, silverware, dishes, trays, napkins, condiments and cold menu items such as salads, desserts, bread and cold beverages on meal preparation/serving line. Removes soiled dishes, trays and utensils. Cleans tables and counters, sweeps floors, empties and sanitizes waste cans. Cleans kitchen equipment such as worktables, sinks and refrigerators. Separates food waste and trash from dishes, glasses, serving containers and utensils in the dishwasher area. Loads and operates a mechanical dishwasher. Returns sanitized items to their original location. Rings up sales on cash register; maintains a separate cash drawer; accepts payment and makes change; prepares cash reports at end of shift.

Operates a variety of motor vehicles (approximate weight up to 10,000 pounds) to transport and sell drinks and food items to customers located on the installation. Obeys all traffic laws and safety regulations. Performs and documents vehicle operator maintenance, such as checking fluid levels, air pressure in tires, cleaning and washing vehicles. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience in and knowledge of methods and procedures relating to food preparation and presentation gained in a grill, snack bar, restaurant, club, or similar food activity. Knowledge of operating and cleaning food service equipment, characteristics of various foods, and the ability to season food and decide when foods are done is required. Exposed to high temperatures, hot surfaces and cutting utensils. Must have skill in maneuvering and driving vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds. Must have knowledge of defensive driving techniques and regulations. Must be able to follow simple oral instructions involving duties with several distinct tasks or steps. Must be physically able to frequently handle objects weighing up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds. Continual standing and walking, and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending.

Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and 4EJ. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Successful completion and favorable adjudication of applicable background investigation (Tier 1 Level) is required. Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.

What is NAF Employment?

NAF money, on the other hand, is self-generated by Air Force clubs, bowling centers, golf courses, and other activities that use NAF employees.
