Summary

As a Scientific Program Manager (Biologics) you will collaborate with investigators to develop milestone plans and monitor timelines for funded projects. All projects will be focused on biologics therapeutics development expected to reach Investigational New Drug (IND) filing and the initiation of first-in-human clinical trials end the end of the funding period. A key role of this position includes facilitating collaborative research efforts and communicating progress to NIH leadership.

Duties

Help
  • Manage a portfolio of drug discovery and development of Biologics-based therapeutics.
  • Manage a portfolio of drug discovery grants, cooperative agreements, and contracts.
  • Implement research project objectives, plans, milestones, timelines, and budgets and ensure that activities are completed on time and within budget.
  • Manage milestone-driven research and development activities projects in the area of biologic therapeutics.
  • Conduct ongoing analyses of project performance and make recommendations to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Direct and manage translating program objectives and translational research and preclinical development priorities into scientific agendas.

Qualifications

You qualify at the GS-15 level, if you meet both of the following qualification requirements:

Minimum Education: In order to qualify for a Scientific Program Manager (Biologics), GS-0601, position you must possess a bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree with a major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

In addition, in order to qualify for the Scientific Program Manager (Biologics) at the GS-15 level, you must:

Demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal Government, performing the following types of tasks: Directing and managing a portfolio of multidisciplinary and milestone-driven comprehensive pre-clinical drug development biologics-based therapeutics projects; developing and evaluating biologics therapeutics; overseeing costs and obtaining funding for drug development projects; developing strategic initiatives and guiding team efforts to achieve inter-disciplinary drug development research program goals; developing procedures surrounding the administration of programs related to pre-clinical drug development biologics-based therapeutics projects; and representing an organization at conferences and meetings with high-ranking scientists in academia, advocacy groups, industry or government.
