About the position: This position is located at the Misawa Collocated Club, 35th Force Support Squadron, Misawa AB, Japan.

The purpose of this position is to mix and serve pre-mixed alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages from a limited service bar.

This is a Flexible category position; Guaranteed 0 hour per week, but may work up to 40 hours per week, depending on the needs of the facility.

Duties

Help

Operates limited service bars. Prepares a limited variety of alcoholic drinks by selecting proper premix and garnish. Serves beer,
soda and wine. Serves patrons directly or delivers to waiter. Receives payment, operates cash register, and makes and returns change
to patrons or waiter. Sets up bar for operation and obtains cash bank. Maintains work area neat and clean. Washes bar equipment, glassware, and utensils. Stocks service bars and assists higher-level bartender as required. May be required to prepare documentation for cash funds accountability. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge of correct proportions and mixtures to use in preparing beverages. Ability to recognize intoxicated or unruly patrons and to resolve the problem or seek assistance if needed. Ability to follow cash handling procedures. Supervisor provides guidance and evaluates work performance and is available to answer questions and resolve
customer dissatisfactions. Work is evaluated on ability to carry out supervisors' instructions concerning work sequence, procedures,
methods, and deadlines. Requires frequent light to moderate lifting and carrying of objects weighing 5 to 15 pounds, pushing and pulling objects weighing 10 to 20 pounds and occasionally lifting up to and over 40 pounds. Heavier objects such as beer kegs are usually transported with the aid of a dolly.

  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical.

  • Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience mixing alcoholic beverages for retail sale, which includes knowledge of correct proportions and mixtures to use in preparing beverages. Must be able to recognize intoxicated or unruly patrons and to resolve the problem or seek assistance if needed. Must be able to follow cash handling procedures. Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing 5 to 15 pounds, pull and push objects weighing 10 to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift up to and over 40 pounds.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.

What is NAF Employment?
NAF employment is considered federal employment. It is, however, different from federal civil service employment because the monies used to pay the salaries of NAF employees come from a different source. Civil service positions are paid for by money appropriated by Congress. NAF money, on the other hand, is self-generated by Air Force clubs, bowling centers, golf courses, and other activities that use NAF employees.
