Duties

Help

As the Social Media Specialist, the incumbent of this position plans and implements social media strategies and messaging to support and promote the EAC's mission and work.

MAJOR DUTIES

  • Develop, prepare, coordinate, and edit social media content that conveys information to the general public and specialized target groups relating to the organization programs, objectives and mission.
  • Coordinate with Director of Communications and other staff to providing subject matter expertise, format for various platforms and recommendations in the execution and formatting of visual material such as graphics, illustrations, photographs, text, page layout, and video presentations.
  • Develop strategies for social media campaigns and special project promotion to maximize the reach and effectiveness of communications.
  • Plan and create multimedia content using graphic design, photo manipulation and video editing software and techniques.
  • Ensure social media pages maintain consistent messaging and provide accurate information.
  • Maintain working relationships with social media counterparts.
  • Provide social media coverage of major communication events.
  • Research new and innovative tools to maintain currency and relevance with social media efforts and strategies.
  • Deliver concise, compelling content through various digital platforms.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • External Awareness: Skill in identifying, analyzing, and keeping abreast of legislation, policies, political, and social trends that affect the EAC and assess the impact to the agency's mission.
  • Understanding and experience using a wide range of social media platforms and other software platforms used for EAC communications resources.
  • Ability to do provide analytics and recommendations for effective social media and communications.
  • Ability to navigate media management software and disseminate information using this platform.
  • Ability to do basic graphic design and video editing.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and techniques of written and oral communications. Skill in applying such knowledge to perform assignments involving public information, internal information, and community relations activities for internal and external audiences; develop written information materials for dissemination through a variety of media; determine and effectively use the most appropriate means for transmitting information and evaluate the effectiveness of the plans developed to communicate with targeted audiences.
  • Skill and knowledge to develop innovative written communication materials such as news releases, feature stories, fact sheets, presentations, etc., and other products that effectively transmit information about EAC's programs and activities.
  • Ability to speak to agency priorities and successes and respond to constructive criticism in a professional manner.
  • Knowledge of information gathering and analysis techniques to gather, analyze, summarize, and report on election-related data.

Education

Bachelor's or higher degree in a related field is preferred.
