Summary

This position is located at Hillside Youth Center, Joint Base Lewis-McChord. This announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies throughout the program.

This a Regular Part-Time position with a minimum work week of 20 hours and eligible for benefits.

Duties

Help
  • Ensures the safety and well-being of children, youth and adults being transported to and from the program and on field trips. Knowledge of how to properly load and unload passengers. Skill in selecting the shortest and safest route.
  • Ensures children and youth know how to safely evacuate the bus. Practices bus evacuation following prescribed procedures with children and youth on a monthly basis.
  • Knowledge of height, weight, width, and length of passenger shuttle vans, and cargo vans in order to judge overhead and side clearances, turning radius and braking distance.
  • Work requires walking, lifting and carrying items weighing 40 pounds or less, driving, bending and stooping. Drives outside in all kinds of weather in a controlled traffic environment throughout a military installation.
  • Arranges for and ensures completion of routine maintenance of bus (e.g., oil change) transporting the bus to and from maintenance and/or repair facilities.

  • Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-15.m., and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation is required.
  • Schedule includes irregular hours, evenings, and/or weekends.
  • Duties involve working both indoors and outdoors under different types of weather conditions.
  • This position requires mandatory drug testing.
  • The physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs., walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis is required.
  • The appropriate driver’s license must be valid and current.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older at time of appointment or placement into the position.
  • Proof of education is required at the time of application.
  • Good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease (verified through physical examination). Immunizations must be current including annual influenza vaccinations.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.

PCS Costs:
  • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
FWS Allowances and Differentials:
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
  • Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts.
  • A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400.
  • A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
