Duties

Help
  • Manages the Organization’s statistics which includes collecting (domestic), acquiring (foreign), and processing statistics.
  • Performs processing, review, and coordination of Waterborne Commerce Statistics Center (WCSC) data to prepare them for integration into the larger framework of transportation statistics.
  • Participates in review, updating, and improvements to statistical products and services or the development of new and improved statistical methods.
  • Explores the appropriate formats for the dissemination of domestic and foreign waterborne commerce and vessel information.
  • Maintains the integrity of statistical data management and processing practices for the Organization.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-9 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Interprets results of statistical analyses to identify important problem areas for waterborne commerce operations; 2) investigates waterborne transportation issues and resolves data errors and anomalies; and 3) operate automated database systems and software tools to perform analytical work for various waterborne shipping operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
