This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Offices of Hearings and Inquiries (OHI), Medicare Ombudsman Group (MOG), Division of Medicare Data Analysis and Project Management
(DAPM).

As a Deputy Division Director, GS-0107-14, you will assist the Division Director with leading a staff responsible for trend analysis of Medicare program inquiries, complaints, and appeals data.

Help
  • Directs the implementation of efficient and effective procedures and activities related to the coordination of Medicare complaint trends analysis and evaluation.
  • Oversees the review of complaint data and trends, including the communication of these trends to HHS leadership and Congress, who may use them for decision-making at the highest levels of government on Medicare-related topics.
  • Works with the Division Director to plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjust short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
  • Provides supervisory oversight, guidance, and technical duties for staff supporting the Competitive Acquisition Ombudsman (CAO) functions.
  • Oversees MOG’s statutory obligation to review and analyze a comprehensive set of programs, policies, and operations related to the overall impact of the Medicare program on beneficiaries as identified through complaints, appeals, and grievances.

In order to qualify for the GS-14 , you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:

  1. managing work that involves the analysis of Medicare, Medicaid, or other health care services, beneficiary information or data; AND
  2. providing technical assistance or leadership to subordinates; AND
  3. planning, organizing, or assessing the work activities to be accomplished by subordinate employees.


Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
