The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

  • Coordinate and publish the SAR, Major Management Challenges, and the Strategic Plan, as well as other senior-level external-facing Office of Inspector General (OIG) publications.
  • Conduct follow-up on recommendations to the VA, including tracking VA implementation of OIG recommendations; monitoring the effectiveness of recommendations through follow-up audits, VA reports and written or verbal responses to inquiries; and providing independent review and analysis of disputed findings or recommendations and work with senior VA and OIG staff to identify alternative corrective actions.
  • Evaluate and analyze draft reports prior to release to ensure they are compliant with Section 508 accessibility requirements and plan report publication dates based upon current workload and communication with staff offices.
  • Manage the electronic distribution process for all OIG reports and publications produced annually.
  • Assist with program inquiries, coordination and implementation of the OIG annual awards program, updates to content in SharePoint, and preparation of recurring quarterly reports on communications-related topics.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience:
For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
  • Researching laws, regulations, guidelines, and approved procedures to provide findings or solutions and drafting reports or presentations to communicate them; AND
  • Tracking projects, data, and records to develop program objectives and evaluating methods, AND
  • Assisting with the development of solutions to improve overall performance.
For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
  • Researching laws, regulations, guidelines, or approved procedures to support or develop findings; AND
  • Collecting, analyzing and summarizing evidence to support conclusions or strategies; AND
  • Assisting with drafting reports and preparing work papers; OR
  • Assisting with the development of new methods, criteria or proposed policies.


In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:

  • For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12level for 52 weeks.
  • For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11level for 52 weeks.


Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a nontemporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
